What 79 Sports Fans Told Me
October 14, 2024
Hey everyone! I'm back with another exciting update on Athlete Paths. Remember in my last update when I mentioned conducting a large-scale survey? Well, the results are in, and I can't wait to share them with you!
My Survey Journey 📊
My initial goal was to gather 100 responses from sports fans in 7 days. While I didn't quite hit that target, I came impressively close with 79 responses in about 8 days. I'm actually thrilled with this outcome, especially considering I did zero marketing for this survey. It was all about reaching out to people one-on-one and leveraging the connections I've built so far.
Could it have been better? Sure, it can always be better. But am I satisfied? Absolutely! This data set is solid gold for my project, and I've learned so much about running surveys that will help me in the future.
What I Learned 🧠
Now, let's dive into the juicy stuff - the insights I gained from these 79 sports fans. Here are some of the key areas I explored and validated:
- Current Support Landscape: I asked if fans had financially supported athletes or sports-related causes in the past 12 months. This gave me a baseline for current engagement.
- Support Methods: For those who said yes, I dug into how they've been supporting athletes.
- Barriers to Support: For those who haven't supported athletes, I uncovered the main reasons why.
- Emerging Talent vs. Established Stars: I wanted to know who fans are more likely to support.
- Individual vs. Team Sports: Another key question was whether fans prefer supporting individual athletes or team sports.
- Motivation for Support: Understanding what drives fans to support athletes is crucial for my platform's messaging and features.
- Transparency Preferences: I asked how fans want their contributions to be used and tracked. Transparency was a big theme in my interviews, and the survey results backed this up.
- Trust Factors: I identified several factors that would increase fan trust in a platform like Athlete Paths, which is very important for me.
- Contribution Preferences: I explored whether fans prefer one-time donations, recurring support, or a mix of both.
- Demographics: I gathered age data to understand my potential user base better.
Surprising Insights 🤔
Some of the responses really made me think and opened up new angles for the project. Without giving everything away (I'll be sharing a detailed PDF for those interested on the Resources page), here are a couple of teasers:
- The primary motivations for supporting athletes revealed some heartwarming insights about fan-athlete relationships.
- A large percentage of votes from fans who haven't supported athletes was due to a lack of awareness about opportunities to directly support athletes.
Building My Community 🤝
One of the most exciting outcomes? I now have 36 email addresses from sports fans who are interested in Athlete Paths. These folks will be my early adopters, my sounding board, and hopefully, my biggest cheerleaders as I move forward.
What's Next? 🚀
- Resource Sharing: I'll be creating a detailed PDF of the survey results, which I'll add to my resources page. If you want an early look, just shoot me an email!
- Athlete Interviews: Remember, I still have those mini-interviews with young athletes and their families coming up. Can't wait to share those insights with you.
- MVP Development: These insights are going straight into the development of my Minimum Viable Product. I'm getting closer, folks!
Thank you all for your continued support and interest in this journey. I'm building something special here! Stay tuned for more updates, and as always, keep supporting those rising stars! 🌟🏀🏆
P.S. If you want early access to the detailed survey results or just want to chat about the project, don't hesitate to reach out. I'm always excited to connect with my audience.
